PESHAWAR, Feb 28: Dismissing a criminal appeal, a two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court on Thursday upheld sentence of 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment awarded to an employee of Frontier Constabulary by a Qazi court for killing his colleague.
The bench comprising Justice Tariq Pervaiz and Justice Qazi Ahsanullah Qureshi observed that the commission of offence was proved against the appellant.
The appellant, Ameerzada was convicted by the Zila Qazi (district and sessions judge), Shangla on Nov 13, 2000, for killing a hawaldar of FC, Maqsood Khan. He was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and has to pay diyat amount of Rs270,000.
The appellant had claimed that he and Maqsood were working in the wireless room of FC Post at Beri Bagh, Shangla and when Maqsood tried to sexually molest him, and he killed him in self- defence.
