PESHAWAR, Oct 10: The Bank of Khyber and National Database Registration Authority on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate general public in obtaining computerized national identity cards.
The MoU was signed by Managing Director BoK, Sajid Ali Abbasi and Director General Nadra, NWFP, Brig Anwar Khan at a simple ceremony held at the bank’s head office.
Under the MoU, the sale and collection of filled up CNIC forms through all branches of the Bank of Khyber in the NWFP has been agreed.
It has also been mutually decided that BoK network in the province will sell original forms of the newly-computerized identity cards at Rs35, without levying any extra service charges.
Speaking on the occasion, MD BoK, Sajid Ali Abbasi said his bank had always extended its assistance in all disciplines which it deemed in the interest of the people.
Realising the importance of the task assigned to Nadra by the government, the bank management decided to extend its support to it, he added.
He said, the staff members of 23 branches of BoK will not only collect forms from the applicants, but would also help them in filling and attestation.
Sajid also informed the participants of the ceremony that the BoK was also a member of a banking consortium constituted by the government for the funding of Nadra at the federal government level and contributed Rs100 million in this regard. DG NADRA, Anwar Khan said people were facing great hardship in obtaining of CNIC forms and expressed the hope that delivery of this service would now be improved.
