SHO suspended, SI demoted

GUJRANWALA, June 7: An SHO was suspended from service while a sub-inspector was demoted by the DIG on Saturday over different charges against them.

DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal suspended from service Daska Saddar police SHO Ghulam Akbar for his failure to control crime in his police station jurisdiction. He was also issued show-cause notice.

Gujranwala Saddar Sub-Inspector Fazal Karim had allegedly conducted a defective inquiry into a murder case. The DIG demoted him to the rank of assistant sub-inspector.

STRIKE: The low-paid employees of all the government and semi-government departments observed strike on Saturday to press their demands.

On the call of the All Pakistan Clerks Association, they held meetings at their respective departments and criticized the government for not increasing their salaries.

Through a resolution, they demanded raise in salaries in proportion to rising prices, and other facilities. They also called for settlement of their promotion cases.

The protesters vowed to continue strike till the acceptance of their demands.

PO ARRESTED: Qila Deedar Singh police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a proclaimed offender, who killed a man, following a brief encounter.

Police said Muhammad Riaz had killed Shaukat Ali over a minor issue at Ladheywala Warriach village a few years ago.

Police have registered a case against the accused.
