SADIQABAD, June 6: The Rajanpur police foiled the “Bugti” outlaws’ bid to kidnap Sardar Shah Jehan Solangi, chief of the Solangi tribe of Machk.

The Sardar was kidnapped while on his way to Rojhan in Rajanpur district to condole the death of Sardar Akhtar Khan Mazari, brother of Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Shaukat Hussain Khan Mazari.

Acting on a tip-off, the Rajanpur police chased the outlaws and got the Sardar released after a shootout in which some of the outlaws sustained injuries.

The Solangi tribesmen later swarmed to the residence of their chief in Machka and protested against the crime.

CLERKS’ STRIKE: Clerks went on strike in government offices throughout the tehsil.

The office-bearers of All-Pakistan Clerks’ Association (APCA), including tehsil president Chaudhry Munir Ahmed, visited the TMA office, where they were accorded a warm reception.

Speaking on the occasion, APCA vice-president Haji Shamshad Ali urged the government to redress the clerks’ demands forthwith.
