ISLAMABAD, June 5: The chairman of Pakistan Postal Services Management Board, Maj-Gen Agha Masood Hasan (retired), on Thursday said the selected franchise post offices in the twin cities had been allowed to collect Wapda utility bills.

He was speaking at a conference of Rawalpindi/Islamabad franchise post-office holders at the auditorium of the Postal Staff College on Thursday.

The conference was attended by additional director general (O) Syed Altaf Hussain Shah, additional director-general (PDI&Admin) Ziaur Rehman, postmaster general, federal capital & AJK, Rana Sultan Ahmed, deputy postmaster general, Islamabad, Syed Anwar Ali Shah and other senior officials.

The chairman said the franchise post offices were also given permission to accept V.P.Parcel and L.S.P. to serve the cause of customers in a rapidly changing postal environment in the wake of IT revolution.

He agreed in principle to enhance the current amount of commission from 10 per cent to a reasonable limit for the franchise post-office holders.

The chairman of Pakistan Postal Offices urged the holders to organize a committee of franchise post holders within the country and hold regular meetings with the respective postmaster generals to evolve a joint customer-oriented strategy to meet the expectations of customers amid modern challenges.

Rana Sultan Ahmed said Pakistan Post offices had chalked out a comprehensive strategy to patronize the network of franchise post offices within the country to provide maximum postal facilities to the masses.
