KARACHI, June 1: Glowing tributes were paid to late Jamaluddin Bukhari for his services to the cause of the masses of the Subcontinent in general and people of Sindh in particular, at an award distribution ceremony held at the NIPA auditorium here on Saturday night.
Comrade Jamaluddin Bukhari Award of Excellence ceremony was organised by the “Larkanians”, an organization of graduates and prominent personalities of Larkana.
Senator Nisar A. Memon was the chief guest on the occasion. Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Z.A. Nizami, presided over the ceremony. Nusrat Hasan, a former senior bureaucrat, was the guest of honour.
On the occasion awards were presented to prominent personalities for their outstanding services in their respective fields.
Besides Nisar Memon, Z.A. Nizami and Nusrat Hasan, the recipients of the award included noted intellectual and scholar Ali Ahmed Brohi, secretary information Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and noted religious scholar Mufti Munibur Rehman and many others.
The award for nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was received by his nominee as he himself could not attend the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nisar A. Memon said that Larkana had produced outstanding personalities who cast a deep impression on the politics of Pakistan. He said one could have differences with the ideologies of those great people, but the fact remained that they still ruled the hearts of the people.
He assured the Larkanians of his cooperation for whatever step they would take for the progress of Sindh and the country.
The function was also addressed by Mufti Munibur Rehman, Ali Ahmed Brohi, Mrs Mehtab Akbar Rashdi and Qurban Ali Abbasi.
Earlier, Syed Munawar Sultan Bukhari of the Larkanians welcomed the guests and participants, and highlighted the objectives of the awards ceremony.—APP
