GUJRANWALA, Dec 12: Eleven defaulters escaped from Kamoke tehsil office on Wednesday after breaking the lock-up and manhandling the official guard.

Reports reaching here said many farmers and industrialists of Kamoke tehsil were arrested some days ago for not returning loans of the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan and the Small Industries Estates.

The defaulters were kept in the lock-up of the tehsil office. Relatives brought food for defaulter Rana Zulfikar Ahmad and asked guard Gulzar Ahmad to open the door of the lock-up. All the detained men attacked Gulzar when he opened the door. They severely beat him up and escaped after locking the guard in the lock-up.

DEATH SENTENCE: The additional district and sessions judge awarded on Wednesday death sentence to Iqbal Masih in a murder case.

The court also awarded 22 years imprisonment to the convict and acquitted Rahmat Masih, the father of the convict, giving him the benefit of the doubt.

According to the prosecution, Iqbal Masih kidnapped Abu Bakar from Musa Dakhal village, Qila Dedar Singh. He sodomized the boy and killed him on resistance. Later, he threw the body in fields on Dec 12, 1989.

RELEASE ORDERED: The district and sessions judge ordered release of a condemned prisoner following his mediation with the heirs of the deceased in a murder case of Ghakhar Town here on Wednesday.

According to details, Shahzad Ahmad of Ghakhar Town was awarded death sentence by the sessions judge in a murder case in 1994.

The Lahore High Court, the Supreme Court and the president had rejected his appeals. The district and sessions judge had issued his black warrants.

Meanwhile, the heirs of the deceased pardoned him and informed the sessions court accordingly.

POLICE ACTION: Model Town police adopted a novel way to avoid vehicle thefts — deflating their tyres.

On Wednesday, they deflated the tyres of more than 50 vehicles parked in the compound of Trust Plaza and other places.

Police took the step to control the rise in the incidents of vehicle lifting.

Meanwhile, people complained to the police high-ups against the action.
