KARACHI, May 30: Five ships carrying general cargo, containers and to load ethanol are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was slow owing to delayed arrivals and as a result, no ship was berthed after the departure of four.

The ships, which departed included Al-Ihsaa, Hyundai Sprinter, Le He and North Sea Anvil, while Torge-S and Sinar Bangka are due to sail out on Saturday.

Owing to lesser berthing, the cargo handling activity at the wharves failed to pick up totalling 49,570 tons comprising 8,541 tons of export cargo and 41,029 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Spring Orion, to load 2,000 tons of ethanol, Mar Challenger, Astor, Med Tai Chung, with containers and Gant Star, with general cargo.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, May 30: Shipping activity remained slow on Port Qasim as only one ship Francisca Schulte was allotted berth at QICT during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Friday.

Meanwhile, another ship Qem Star with chemicals arrived at the outer anchorage.

Due to slow arrival of ships cargo handling activity was moderate as the total tonnage fell to 10,371 tons comprising 5,253 tons of import cargo and 5,118 tons of export tonnage.
