WASHINGTON, Dec 11: Zaccarias Moussaoui of France was charged in connection with the Sept 11 attacks on Tuesday in the first indictment from the US probe of the attacks, Attorney General John Ashcroft said.

Moussaoui, 33, a French national of Moroccan origin, faces six counts in connection with the attacks, Ashcroft said at a press conference.

Four of those counts carry the death penalty.

The indictment also cites a list of unindicted co-conspirators headed by Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, head of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, as unindicted co-conspirators.—AFP
