Pakistan, Turkey to promote trade

During the talks held here at the Foreign Office, the two counterparts also exchanged views on major global and regional issues.

They agreed to work closely together for reinforcing the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere.

The two high-officials decided to institutionalize annual consultations between themselves to be held alternately in Islamabad and Ankara.

Mr Kasuri briefed the visiting dignitary on Pakistan’s endeavours to de-escalate tension with India and for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

They had identity of views on the evolving situation in Iraq as well as the situation in Afghanistan and the Cyprus issue.

During stay in Islamabad, Dr Abdullah Gul will also call on President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Before his departure from Islamabad on May 21, the Turkish minister will hold a joint press conference with Mr Kasuri.—APP
