MITHI, May 20: The members of the Tharparkar District Council have demanded of the district government to ensure fair and transparent distribution of relief wheat and not to entrust this task to the same Patels who have earlier embezzled thousands of relief what bags.

Initiating a debate on the issue at the district council session here on Monday, Abdul Latif Rahmoon said that the councillors and Nazims of union councils had repeatedly complained that around 50,000 bags of relief wheat were embezzled by the influential people but no action was taken against them.

He termed it strange that the local administration was going to again allot the depots of relief wheat to the same Patels who had misappropriated thousands of relief wheat bags.

Mohanlal added that not only that the council members were raising hue and cry against the massive embezzlement of relief wheat but the District Nazim had also demanded of the Sindh government to take strict action against the wheat embezzlers but but they were not taken to task. Most of the district council members supported the views of two councillors.

Complaining about the performance of government officials, Abdul Raheem Khoso said that some of the government officials were creating obstacles in the functioning of the district government and most of them were not interested in redressing grievances of the people.
