ISLAMABAD, May 7: The family of an educated Pakistani, who had settled abroad and died of cancer some time ago, is imparting elementary education to the neglected children of slum-dwellers in the capital in accordance with his will.

The gentleman Jamshed Akhtar Qureshi bequeathed his life savings to the noble cause of educating the children with three R’s to begin with from the year 1996.

The organisation that the deceased willed to be set up is known as “Jamshed Akhtar Qureshi Education Trust”. The trust is functioning in Islamabad for the past seven years under the patronage of the deceased’s sister-in-law Naveed Qureshi.

Talking about the future plans of the trust, Naveed Qureshi said for the future, it had been decided that two brightest students from each open-air school would be given scholarships on completion of their primary education for advanced studies.
