HYDERABAD, Dec 9: The government of Sindh has allocated Rs10 million for scholarships to outstanding students and position holders of SSC and HSC examinations.
This was revealed by Sindh education secretary Mr Nazar Hussain Mahar while holding meeting with principals/head masters of Hyderabad at circuit house here the other day.
He said that sufficient amount had been allocated for educational schemes under Khushhal Pakistan Programme in the province.
Defending denationalization of educational institutions, the secretary said that it was being done under the policy and decision of the government.
He added that it would be the responsibility of the government to protect the jobs of the employees and promised that no one would be rendered unemployed.
He stressed the need for promoting culture of quality and management, and assured that the rights of teaches would be fully protected.
Mr Mahar informed the meeting that a summary was being moved to the government to avail the services of experienced retiring and able teachers.
He said that from next year, 12,000 teachers of Sindh would be trained in computer programmes in collaboration with Intel-Pak and added that 200 computer teachers had been provided in educational institutions of Sindh.
He also stressed the need to have facility of Internet at colleges.
However he directed the heads of educational institutions to buy computes and other equipments from resources of colleges.
He also asked the heads of educational institutions to introduce English as medium of teaching in the colleges of the province.
On complaint from principals to establish separate examination centres for private candidates, he said that university authorities would be approached in this regard.
He announced that except government college New Saeedabad and another college, deputations of teachers and staff would be cancelled.
The secretary said that the principals had been authorized to take action against absentee staff even up to professor level.
He said that efforts were being made to post grade-20 professors as principals of big colleges while the surplus teachers would be adjusted in the institutions in need of teachers.
