FAISALABAD, April 20: A three-day All Pakistan Progressive Writers Conference concluded here on Sunday with the adoption of 17 resolutions.

Writers, poets, columnists and intellectuals from all over the country attended the conference in different sittings.

The conference in a resolution condemned hegemonic and expansionist designs of the US saying that the right of Iraqi people to form their government must be respected.

The conference also gave vent to its discontent over the abuse of electronic media by the US to achieve its goal of capturing the oil reserves of Iraq. It also demanded independent writers clubs on the pattern of Press clubs to encourage writers in addition to independent art councils at federal and provincial levels. It also demanded lifting of ban on all performing arts, including dance.—APP
