KARACHI, Dec 7: The Sindh Labour Department after a lapse of a decade has come out with the second edition of “Year book-2000”, which contains latest and updated data about overall functioning and achievements of the labour directorate.

The year-book besides containing introduction and evolution of the labour department, pre-and post- one-unit (1955-70) and its existence in Sindh with special reference to historical back-ground of industrial relations, also has information about trade unions in (Indo-Pak sub-continent) South East Asia.

Some 10 sub-topics depicting industrial relations, trade unions, collective bargaining, conciliation factories/ shops inspections have also been included in the book.

Besides, the government’s efforts for elimination of child labour and ensuring occupational safety and health care, etc have been highlighted with statistical data and figures.

The first-ever edition of the year book was published in 1991 and was appreciated by all the concerned quarters.—APP
