KARACHI, April 15: An emergency meeting of the Sindh High Court Bar Association will be held on Wednesday at 10am to protest against the killing of an advocate on the premises of the High Court.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the President and the Secretary of the SHCBA, Muneer Malik and Yawar Faruqui, said Advocate Ashraf Ali Rajput was shot dead without any obvious reason while he was sitting in a courtroom of the annexe building. Mr Ashraf had joined the long list of lawyers who had been murdered in cold blood and whose murders remained unsolved, they added.

They said the killing of a lawyer raised fundamental issues with regard to the ability of lawyers to discharge their professional duties without fear.
