KARACHI, Dec. 5: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan will conduct FCPS-I examination in Saudi Arabia twice a year from July next, CPSP sources said.

The schedule for arrangement was agreed upon in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed recently between CPSP and the Saudi Council for Health Sciences (SCHS), under which the first FCPS -I examination will be held at Riyadh in July 2002.

The SCHS has also agreed to grant equivalence to holders of FCPS diploma. MRCP and FRCS holders applying from Pakistan for jobs in Saudi Arabia will be provided at least four years of accredited training period, duly certified by the CPSP, for equivalence as senior registrar by SCHS.

CPSP sources said that the understanding reached between the College and the SCHS is part of former’s efforts to enhance exchange of expertise.—APP
