The woman stepped out of the car “screaming in fear,” a statement said, causing coalition soldiers to approach the vehicle Thursday night not far from Hadithah Dam. The car then exploded.

The woman, the driver and three soldiers were killed. Two other coalition soldiers were injured, Centcom said.

“The identity of the soldier is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification,” the statement said, adding that “an investigation into the incident is under way.”
