QUETTA, March 30: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has demanded a trial against President Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for committing war crimes.
Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he described the coalition forces attack as terrorism against Iraq and alleged that Kofi Annan was also involved in this act.
“The US-led coalition forces attack on Iraq is a naked aggression, and the United Nations has failed to resolve the issue through diplomatic efforts,” Maulana Haideri said and added that after the attack, there was no need of the UN.
“The UNO should be abandoned as it failed to fulfil its responsibilities,” he remarked and alleged that the UNO was only protecting the interests of the United States and its allies. He claimed that Mr Annan was aware of the US-led coalition attack on Iraq when he directed the arms inspectors to leave Iraq without completing their job.
“The arms inspectors found no clue to the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq during their three month-long stay in Iraq,” Maulana Haideri said and added that it proved the US designs against Iraq and other Muslim countries.
The JUI secretary-general said that with the coalition forces invasion, the interests of China and Russia would also affect. He urged upon Beijing and Moscow to get united to foil nefarious designs of the coalition forces.
He said it was the United States which dropped nuclear bombs on Japanese and killed several million innocent people. It also killed millions of people in Vietnam and now targeting Iraqis.
In replying to a question, the JUI-F official said religious parties including JUI was ready to send their activists to fight shoulder to shoulder with their Iraqi brethren against the United States and British forces.
But he also said:”We have no close border with Iraq which was a big hurdle in sending our people.”
