KARACHI, March 26: The Karachi Port Trust has commissioned another berth for the use of molasses export. An announcement to this effect was made by a spokesman for the KPT on Wednesday.

He said that keeping in view the importance of expeditious and efficient handling of molasses and upholding its motto of providing a user-friendly environment, the KPT has added its berth 26 at West Wharf to the already existing two berths for handling molasses.

It was stated that molasses is an important export item and earns a good amount of foreign exchange. With the addition of this, the total number of berths available for molasses handling comes to three, one each at East Wharf, West Wharf and the Oil Pier. On March 25, the first molasses ship was berthed at Berth number 26.—APP
