KARACHI, Dec 2: The assistant directors of local government will perform the functions of coordinators in Town and Union Council administrations.

This was stated at a meeting of assistant directors of local government of all the districts of Sindh held under the chairmanship of the additional secretary, Ayub Shaikh, here on Saturday.

The meeting was informed that the government was taking measures for meeting their requirements in the discharge of their functions. At the meeting the problems being faced by ADs under the new local government system and their solution were discussed.

The additional secretary pointed out that under the new setup, the responsibilities of the local government department and the associated staff have increased manifold. He said the assistant directors of local government would now be representatives of the Local Government Commission and the LG Department in their respective districts. He told them to take steps in the preparation of budgets of their respective Town and Union Councils.—APP
