Forward bloc in district council

GUJRANWALA, Dec 1: A forward bloc is being created in the district council after tehsil city council by ‘angry’ members of the treasury group.

A large number of ‘dissidents’ met here on Saturday to discuss the formation of the bloc.

It is stated that a number of treasury group councillors, including women and minority members, were angry with district Nazim Chaudhry Fiaz Ahmad Chattha and alleged that he was ignoring them in the house.

SUBSIDIZED FLOUR: The tehsil city council has set up more than 20 flour sale points in the city where the commodity will be sold at subsidized rate.

The sale points have been set up in Shaheenabad, Dhully, Jinnah Road, People’s Colony, Hafizabad Road, Model Town, Sheikhupura Road, Naushera Road, Satellite Town, Popular Nursery, Farid Town, Khokherki, Sialkot Road where a 20-kilogram wheat flour bag is being sold for Rs145 instead Rs180.

Meanwhile, the district administration has set up Ramazan bazaars and flour sale points in all tehsil headquarters — Wazirabad, Naushera Virkan and Gujranwala Sadar — and Kamoki, Ghakkhar town, Alipur Chattha, Qila Dedar Singh and Sodara.

Tehsil city Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad and other senior officials on Saturday visited these sale points and Ramazan bazaars and reviewed the prices of commodities being sold there.
