QUETTA, March 15: The 13th two-day meeting of the joint Pak-Iran Border Commission began here on Saturday with its Chairman Major Mohammad Ashraf (retired) in the chair.

The meeting reviewed implementation of the last decisions and discussed various suggestions for the solution of problems being faced in this regard.

The commission also discussed the issues pertaining to joint patrolling in the border area, preventing drug and other smuggling, handing over of wanted persons to each other, besides close and effective contacts between border officials of Pakistan and Iran and stopping violation of border rules and regulations.

Many other issues also came under discussion and suggestions made for consideration in the meeting for resolving them. Various decisions in this connection are likely to be taken on Sunday.

The commission chairman represented Pakistan along with Brig Khalid Kabrya, Deputy Inspector General Frontier Corps; Balochistan Home Secretary Dr Badaruddin Aujan, Federal Interior Ministry Deputy Secretary Mohammad Ibrahim and Pakistan’s Consul General in Zahidan.

The Deputy Governor General of Sistan Balochistan, Mr Daniyal Mulai, the Iranian Consul General based at Quetta, Hussain Kashmari; Sistan Balochistan Director-General Security and Political Affairs Ghulam Raza Javedan and other border officials represented Iran.
