KARACHI, March 8: The survey department of the Board of Revenue, in its report to the Ombudsman, Justice Haziqul Khairi, has informed that a four-member committee has been constituted, with a subordinate team, to carry out survey and demarcation in respect of Hawkesbay Housing Scheme-42.
The scheme was launched in 1984, but no physical survey and demarcation had been carried out since then. The said demarcation and survey work had started in Jan 24, and 30 per cent of work had been completed by the survey party. The completion will take another three months.
On Oct 5, 2000, the Sindh Ombudsman had taken suo moto notice of alleged neglect and inordinate delay in development work of housing Scheme-42 when it transpired that no physical survey of the land had been carried out and allotment of land by the Sindh Board of Revenue to KDA/LDA was on paper only.
A sum of Rs70 crores was collected from 29,462 persons towards the housing scheme which is not available for development of the scheme and spent elsewhere by the agencies.—PPI
