RAWALPINDI, March 6: The judge of Anti-Terrorists Court no 1, Manzoor Ahmad Mirza, on Thursday rejected the bail applications of two accused in the famous Shah Najaf Imambargah terrorism case, in which 11 people were killed and 14 others severely injured.

According to prosecution, the challan in the case had already been presented. Besides, the accused — Hafiz Naseer Ahmad and Mohammad Suhail — were charged with a crime that was non-bailable, therefore, they should not be granted bail.

Citing the prima facie evidence, the prosecution maintained that Mohammad Suhail, in a meeting with the main accused — Mujeebur Rehman and Fazal Hameed — at a farmhouse, masterminded the terrorist attack.

The prosecution maintained that in the meeting, Mohammad Sohail had also contributed Rs14,000 towards buying a motorbike (RIE 6368), that was later used in the terrorist attack on Shah Najaf Imambargah at Khayaban-i-Sir Syed.

Meanwhile, the judge of Anti-Terrorists Court no 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, recorded the statements of three witnesses in a terrorism case, in which some persons had shot dead a man at a ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) over a family feud.

The Margalla police also presented the case property in the court. According to the witnesses — Zafar, Mohammad Sadique and Fazal Elahi — the accused, Khurram Shehzad, accompanied by other co-accused in the case, came to the hospital and killed Asif with a Kalashenikov.

In the same case, eight accused — Khurram Shehzad, Khurram Abbas, Mohammad Abbas, Wasim, Amjid Sher, Nasir, Arshad and Javid Iqbal — were termed proclaimed offender.

The additional district and sessions judge, Sanaullah Malik issued show-cause notice to the ASI of Westridge Police Station, Naveed Hussain, for not presenting the case property in a narcotics case.

The additional district and sessions judge, Malik Akram Awan, awarded three-and-a-half-month rigorous imprisonment to a drug-peddler after he confessed to having committed the crime.

The court also imposed a Rs3,000 fine on the convict, Abdul Aziz, who had been booked by Ganjmandi police for possessing 160 grams charas.

The same court also awarded two-month rigorous imprisonment to another drug-peddler, Ansar Ali. He was also fined Rs2,000. In case of non-payment, he would have to undergo another 10 days of jail-term. The convict had been booked by Kahuta police.

The same court granted bail to an accused, Nadeem, from whose possession, Waris Khan police had allegedly seized 25 bottles of wine.

The court also granted bail to an accused, Babar, who had been booked by Bani police for allegedly selling eight bottles of wine.

The civil judge and judicial magistrate, Hidaytullah Shah, sent four Afghan nationals to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

The accused — Allah Mohammad, Shahbaz Khan, Khayal Mohammad and Peer Mohammad — had been booked by the Airport police for not possessing documents that could legalize their stay in the country.

In a similar case, the additional district and sessions judge, Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmad, accepted the bail application of four Afghan nationals, who had been booked by Bani, Ganjmandi and Saddar Baruni police.

The court directed the accused — Abdul Qadoos, Zahir Khan, Daud Khan and Sardar Wali — to submit the surety bonds of Rs50,000 each, and ordered the police to send all of the accused to their respective refugees camps.
