KARACHI, Nov 29: A total fine of Rs11800 has so far been recovered from 185 shopkeepers challaned on charges of profiteering and failure to display the price lists during the month of Ramzan.
According to details, fine amounting to Rs23400 was recovered from 33 shopkeepers in Quaidabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, Machi Miani Market and Ranchor Line today by the respective judicial magistrates.
During the last six days, 152 cases of profiteering were dealt with and a total fine of Rs78400 was recovered from the profiteers of markets located in Gulberg, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, Saddar, Orangi, Lyari, Landhi, Bin Qasim, Jamshed and Liaquatabad Town.
As a measures of controlling and monitoring the prices of essential commodities, 30 public assistance centres have also been established in all the main markets of the city.—APP
