VEHARI, March 1: A deaf and dumb girl was raped allegedly by four landlords at Chak 61/WB on Saturday.
Reports said labourer Roshan Ali’s daughter, who was abducted from fields near her house two days ago, was raped and thrown in the fields in critical condition on Saturday.
Police have registered a case against landlords Ahmad Yar, Riaz Ahmad, Munsab Ali and Zawar Husain under the Hudood Ordinance.
SHOPS BULLDOZED: The Islam headworks irrigation department on Saturday launched drive against encroachments, according to department’s XEN.
The XEN told newsmen that several shops were constructed in the area without the government’s permission. He added that the encroachers did not respond to notices served on them.
Meanwhile, the shopkeepers protested against the department and blocked traffic on the Vehari-Hasilpur Road for an hour
Police baton-charged the protesters, leaving some of them injured.
