HYDERABAD, Nov 28: A large number of liberated Hari women, children and activists of Awami Tehrik and the Sindhiani Tehrik continued their token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on the third consecutive day here on Wednesday.
They were protesting against the tyranny of landlord Mehmood Malkani of Mirpurkhas district.
Talking to newsmen, Yaqoob Otho, a leader of the Sindhi Hari Tehrik, said that inhuman atrocities against the poor Haris of Sindh were continuing even in the 21st century.
He demanded that the murderers of Hari Achar Machhi should be arrested and an FIR should be registered against Mehmood Malkani and Bashir Malkani.
He demanded that the cattle of poor Haris, which included 10 buffaloes, 12 cows, 8 pair of oxen, 25 goats should be recovered from the possession of the landlord and restored to the poor Haris.
Mr Otho alleged that the poor Haris were kept in the private jail of landlord Mehmood Malkani for eight years and even after their release under the orders of the Sindh High Court threats of dire consequences were being issued to the liberated Haris.
The peasants asked for justice.
POLICE SLAMMED: The president of Awami National Party, Sindh, Qamoos Gul Khattak, has lashed out at the police department for recovering Eidee from peaceful citizens during the holy month of Ramazan on every road of Hyderabad and Latifabad on the pretext of checking vehicles.
He said that this unholy practice was also bringing bad name to the elected representatives of the people.
