GUJAR KHAN, Feb 23: A woman allegedly committed suicide at Sohawa Town, while eight people were seriously injured when roof of a house caved in at Sagial village, sources said on Sunday.
In the first incident, Zaitoon Akhtar, wife of Mohammad Fazil, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan.
The brother-in-law of the deceased, Haji Mohammad Rashid, told the Sohawa police that Zaitoon Akhtar, a mother of five, was a psychic patient.
The police have registered a case and started investigation.
In another incident, as many as eight people sustained serious injuries as the roof of Mohammad Azad’s house caved in at Sagial village in Sohawa Tehsil on Sunday.
As a result of the incident, Shaheen Bibi, Salma Bibi, Rizwana Bibi, Ayesha Bibi, Imtiaz Bibi, Faiza Bibi, Mohammad Kabir, and Ihtesham Safeer sustained serious injuries.
SHORTAGE OF STAFF: The shortage of operating staff at Sohawa telephone exchange is creating problems for the PTCL subscribers in the area.
Residents complained that they were facing difficulties in availing the 17 and 18 facilities. These facilities are not available from 3:30pm on working days, while remain suspended on Sunday, they added.
When contacted, an officials at the telephone exchange confirmed that the consumers were facing problems as only one telephone operator was performing duty at 17 and 18 facilities.
The subscribers urged the PTCL authorities to take measures for appointment of sufficient staff at Sohawa telephone exchange.
