KARACHI, Feb 20: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat on Thursday warned that strict action would be taken if any Executive District Officer (EDO) misused his powers.
Presiding over a meeting of all the EDOs, the education minister said if any EDO had given jobs during the ban or had made transfers of officials of Grade 17 and 18, it should be immediately cancelled. He warned that if anyone mis-stated the facts, he would be dismissed the same day.
Taking notice of certain complaints reported in the newspapers and from people, the minister warned the EDOs of Dadu and Larkana districts to report if they had made wrongful recruitments or transfers. He directed the education secretary to submit a report in this regard within a week.
Irfanullah Marwat directed the EDOs to provide complete details of operational and non-operational schools in Sindh and inform him that how many closed schools could be opened. He said a report in this regard be given shortly so that closed schools could be used for imparting education.
He said a report should also be given about teachers drawing salaries from closed schools for initiation of action.
The minister also called for information regarding scholarships given to students of 6th to 8th classes. He said show-cause notices would be given to EDOs who may not have distributed scholarships among deserving school students.—APP
