ISLAMABAD, Feb 8: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that the government is striving to uplift the masses by creating more employment opportunities.

He was speaking to an 18-member delegation from Naseerabad, Balochistan.

The delegation, led by Sardar Fateh Ali Umrani, adviser to the prime minister, called on Mr Jamali at the PM House on Saturday.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resource Noraiz Shakoor was also present on the occasion.

The prime minister said that government’s earnest endeavour was to improve the quality of life of the people, especially of those belonging to the backward areas of the country and to provide them better health and educational facilities.

“We consider power as a means to serve the people,” he added.

The premier said that the objective behind lifting the ban on employment from BS-11 to 16 was to deal with the problem of unemployment in the country.

Prime Minister Jamali, however, made it clear that considerations of merit/educational qualification etc., would not be compromised.
