President hails Japanese assistance

ISLAMABAD, Feb 8: President Pervez Musharraf praised Japan on Saturday for its participation in the economic development projects of Pakistan.

The president stated this at a meeting with Osamu Watanabe, chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro). Japan’s ambassador and other officials of Jetro were present on the occasion.

Welcoming Mr Watanabe, the president also underscored the high regard in which Japan and its leadership were held in Pakistan.

Mr Watanabe briefed the president about his visit and the areas in which his organization was extending assistance to the government.

The president thanked Mr Watanabe for his efforts and highlighted the vast scope that existed for expanding Pakistan-Japan cooperation.—APP
