ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: Federal Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat on Thursday inaugurated Islamabad’s first Swift Registration Centre (NSRC) of National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) to expedite issuance of computerized national identity cards.

The minister was given a detailed briefing on the working of the centre set up in F-8 Markaz.

The minister directed the Nadra officials to ensure provision of cards to Pakistani citizens only.

Some foreign nationals also possess Pakistani identity cards, he said. When these people commit crimes and get arrested in foreign countries, it badly affects the image of Pakistan, he added.

He urged the people to provide genuine data in forms and asked the Nadra chairman to increase the number of centres to 120. He also called for setting up at least one such centre in each district.
