KARACHI, May 7: The returning officers of district east and west on Tuesday issued show-cause notices to government officials in connection with elections duties.

District and sessions judge Shahnawaz Tariq, who is also the district retuning officer (west), issued warrants against general managers of PTCL and SSGC and a joint director of State Bank and appointed a police officer for their arrest.

The DRO had asked the three officials a few days ago to provide the list of employees who will perform election duties. But they did not comply with the orders.

Meanwhile, additional district and sessions judges (east) Chaudhry Waseem Iqbal and Fahim Ahmed Khan, the returning officers of NA-253 and NA-255, also issued notices to around 500 employees of different institutions in connection with election duties. —Staff Reporter
