Delay in law on wedding food

Published February 6, 2003

LAHORE, Feb 5: Enactment of laws by the Punjab Assembly on wedding food and ban on sale of cigarettes to juveniles has been delayed, as the special committees on these subjects have sought more time to prepare their recommendations.

The committees were given two days to come up with their views, but they failed to complete their task. They reportedly sought two weeks to forward their recommendations.

Meanwhile, questions about the local government will be answered in the Punjab Assembly’s session today (Thursday).

Some call attention notices are also on the agenda. Besides, the Punjab Office of the Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2003, The Punjab Removal from Service (Special Powers) (Amendment) Bill 2003, The Bank of Punjab (First Amendment) Bill 2003 and The Punjab Local Government (First Amendment) Bill 2003 are expected to be discussed.

Earlier, these were referred to special committees for recommendations.
