KARACHI, Feb 5: A faculty member of Darul Uloom Amjadia was shot dead by unknown persons in North Karachi on Wednesday.

Police said Qari Mohammad Mian Saeedi, 35, an office-bearer of Jamat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan and a resident of Surjani Town, was on his way to the Darul Uloom in Bahadurabad on his motorcycle when he was intercepted by unknown persons in Sector 11-C, North Karachi.

The unknown persons, police said, were riding a white Alto and they pumped two bullets in the chest of Qari Saeedi who died on his way to hospital.

In other incidents, a young man was shot dead on a beach and a partially decomposed body was found from bushes in Jumma goth, while a man was beaten to death by his neighbours.

Asim, 22, a resident of Liaquatbad, was shot dead by an unknown suspect at Sea View on Tuesday night.

A couple was sitting in a car near Sea View. Three young men riding a motorcycle saw them and offered some comments. The man came out of his car and opened fire at the youths and escaped.

Consequently, Asim, suffered a bullet wound and was rushed to JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police were clue- less about the suspect.

In Sukkan police limits, the decomposed body of an unknown man was found from the bushes at the Jumma Goth Railway Station.

Police said that the body was at least 14 days old.

KILLED: A middle-aged man was killed by his neighbours when elders intervened in a dispute between children in Lasi goth late on Tuesday night, police said.

Abdur Rehman, an elder of his family, saw his child being beaten by the children of his neighbours. As he slapped on his neighbour’s child, the relatives of the child started beating him with kicks and fists.

It resulted in the death of Abdur Rehman.

CAR STOLEN: A Dawn staffer’s car was stolen on Wednesday near Society Office in Ferozabad police limits.

Syed Shahabuddin Kirmani of the Dawn group went to Akbar mosque to offer Asr prayers and parked his vehicle near Society Office. When he came back, he found his Honda Civic (F-8010) missing.
