KARACHI: 0Mehdi Hasan robbed

KARACHI, Feb 5: Mehdi Hasan’s house was robbed of cash and jewelry, totalling about Rs2 million, by five young men on Wednesday.

The police said a young man, who identified himself as Nasir Ali, came to the house of the renowned singer in Block 20, Federal B Area on Tuesday. He sought information from Kamran Mehdi for holding a musical concert, and went away saying that he would come back on Wednesday with a few colleagues.

On Wednesday, five persons came to the house. Kamran Mehdi led them into the drawing room/studios, where they held negotiations for the purported show for 45 minutes.

Later the five men took out pistols, each carrying two, herded the family into a room, and collected Rs475,000, jewellry worth Rs1.6 million and two precious watches. An FIR (24/2003) was lodged at the Samanabad police station.
