HYDERABAD, Feb 5: The Kashmir solidarity day was observed in Hyderabad and other towns of the interior of Sindh on Wednesday.

Political parties, NGOs and people from a cross section of society participated in the rallies to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and their right to self-determination.

Speakers demanded right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir in accordance with United Natons resolutions.

They said that despite use of brute force for more than a decade the Indian forces could not subdue the Kashmiri people.

The activists also held a protest against the United States for its intentions to attack Iraq.

They raised slogans against the United States and its president, George W. Bush.

The main programme of the Kashmir Day was held at the Kohinoor Chowk where the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) held a rally, which was addressed by Sahibzada Abdul Khair Mohammad Zubair (MNA) and Abdul Rehman Rajput (MPA) among others.

Under the leadership of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (Sindh), Mir Haider Talpur, the activists took out a rally which marched on the main roads and raised anti-India slogans.

The PML-Q took out a rally under the leadership of its provincial senior vice president, Shahabuddin Shah Hussaini. They raised slogans in support of the Kashmiri people.

PML-Q activists, led by Dr Shafiq Arain, took out a separate rally in the city. They burnt an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee.

They called upon India to implement the UN resolutions and stop excesses against the Kashmiri people.

SUKKUR: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal took out a procession here on Wednesday to mark the Kashmir Day.

Hundreds of MMA activists, residents and students participated in the procession which started from the Ghausia Mosque and after marching on various roads terminated at the Clock Tower, where a public meeting was held.

Speaking at the public meeting, Sindh MMA president MNA Asadullah Bhutto and others said Pakistan had always maintained its principled stand on the Kashmir issue.

SANGHAR: The Kashmir solidarity day was observed in Sanghar, where the Naib Nazim, Dr Mehmood Ahmed Rajput, and other officials led a rally.

MITHI: Citizens, officials, teachers and notables took out a big rally in Mithi.

The district Nazim, Arbab Attaullah, said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiris would bear fruit.

SHIKARPUR: In Shikarpur, speakers at various programmes condemned the excesses of the Indian troops in held Kashmir.

Social workers, teachers, and students held a big rally supporting the Kashmiri people.

NAWBASHAH: People from different walks of life took out a rally to observe the Kashmir Day. They were led by the DCO, Abdul Qadir Mangi.

The activists of the MMA held a protest demonstration against India at the Chakra Bazaar.

Suroor Qureshi and Nazimuddin Burdi of the MMA said that the Indian forces were committing atrocities against the Kashmiris.

KHAIRPUR: Four separate rallies were taken out in Khairpur to mark Kashmir Day.

The district Nazim, Nafisa Shah, led the main rally, which started from the National Bank and stopped at the Panj Gulla Chowk.

She condemned violence in held Kashmir and urged the UN to intervene.

The PML-F took out a rally in Luqman town where its participants raised anti-India slogans.

BADIN: The Kashmir solidarity day was observed in Badin where a big rally was taken out by the district administration and the citizens.

The participants, led by the district Nazim, Kamal Khan Chang, marched on the main roads and gathered in front of the Aiwan-i-Sahafat where they raised slogans against India.
