QUETTA, Feb 1: The newly-appointed Governor of Balochistan, Lt-Gen Abdul Qadir (retired), took oath of his office at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House, here on Saturday.

The Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, administered the oath to the new governor.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf, provincial ministers, Deputy Speaker Mir Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, judges of the

high court, members of the provincial assembly, high-ranking military and civil officials, tribal elders and elite of the city attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Lt-Gen Abdul Qadir (retired) is the 18th governor of the province replacing Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal (retired), who remained on the post for around three years.

Governor Qadir retired from the army service on Jan 31, 2003.
