MINGORA, Feb 1: The inhabitants of Baidara Matta have expressed their anguish over lack of basic amenities in their area and demanded of the government to solve the problems being faced by the masses.

A public meeting was arranged in this connection here on Saturday by the Awami Welfare Society Baidara at which the speakers criticized the Nazim for his alleged failure to solve the problem of water shortage.

They said the area people had been left with no option but to come out on streets to invite the attention of the government towards their plight.

The speakers said that about 15,000 inhabitants of this village were leading a miserable life even in this era of development. They said that majority of the people in the village were farmers, but the government was not taking interest in establishing any agriculture research centre in the area.

The speakers said that fake pesticides were being provided to them for protection of the orchards which seriously affected production of their farms. They demanded an early appointment of a field assistant and establishment of an agriculture research centre in the area.

The speakers said that in the past elected members only served their own interests and did nothing for the public welfare, that was why the ratio of unemployment had increased manifold.

They demanded upgradation of the local boys and girls schools up to the higher secondary level and establishment of another basic health unit. They also demanded supply of the telephone line to the villages of Giray, Naga Dherai, Bejura, etc and asked the police authorities to keep a check on the activities of drug peddlers.
