ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: The World Wetlands Day will be celebrated on Sunday (today) to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable freshwater use, a resource vital for human survival.
The theme of this years is “No Wetlands: No Water”.
The Convention on Wetlands came into force in Pakistan on Nov 23, 1976.
The country at present has 16 sites designated as wetlands of international importance, with a surface area of 283,952 hectares.—APP
