HYDERABAD, Feb 1: The Anti-Terrorism Court, Hyderabad, here on Saturday awarded life imprisonment twice and Rs100,000 fine each to three convicts in a murder and kidnapping for ransom case.
If the convicts failed to pay the fine, they will have to undergo another six months’ imprisonment.
The convicts — Amar Singh Meghwar, Yaqoob Mallah and Noor Mohammad Machhi — confessed the crime, saying that they had kidnapped a boy, Owais Memon, for ransom but had killed him when they failed to get it.
Their co-accused, Hameed Bhurgari, was given benefit of doubt since the prosecution witnesses did not name him in their statements.
The ATC judge, Syed Ali Ashraf Shah, examined 12 prosecution witnesses, including father and uncle of the boy.
