NEW YORK, Jan 31: Former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, who arrived here two days back ostensibly for medical treatment, has gone incognito, refusing to meet journalists or the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders.

Mr Sharif, who arrived here from Jeddah on a British air flight, was caught by surprise when leaders of the PML-N greeted him at the JFK airport.

According to party sources, he took visiting cards and phone numbers from party leaders and told them “don’t call me I’ll call you.” He refused to give them any information about his whereabouts.

He then sat down in a limousine, which had specifically come for him, and drove away.

Although there are reports that Mr Sharif was fingerprinted and processed under the new United States registration law, a United States immigration officer at the JFK airport refused to either confirm or deny the reports.
