KARACHI, April 4: All  those employees of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) who were re-appointed on contract after retirement in different departments of the corporation have been fired in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and with the approval of KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi.

According to a statement issued by the KMC, the officers who have been fired included Mohammed Zakir of the deputy mayor secretariat, Atiq Baig of the foreign coordination desk administrator secretariat, Iqbal Jang of the administrator secretariat, Hassan Imam Siddiqui of the deputy mayor secretariat, Shamim Khan of the engineering department, Syed Wahid Ali of the administrator secretariat, Abdul Sattar Javed of the department of transport and communication, Khalid Javed of the engineering department, Syed Farhat Hussain Zaidi of the HRM department, Thawar Ali Khan of the department of law, Jahandad Khan of the engineering department and Salman Akhtar Fareedi of the Lyari expressway rehabilitation project.

Other officers who have been fired included Khursheed Javed of the department of law, Nadim Khan of the department of law, Rani Warsa of the department of education, Anwar-ul-Haque of the department of law, Mohammed Saleem Ibrahim of the store department, Ghulam Rasool of the Karachi mass transit cell, A. Rasheed Mughal of the Karachi mass transit cell, Khursheed Anwar of the medical services department, Ghaus Mohammed of the internal audit department, Mohammed Basheer of the medical services department, Iqbal Ahmed Khan of the engineering department, Parvez Afzal of the internal audit department and Abdul Wasay of the engineering department.

In an order issued by the HRM department, the heads of all departments were directed to take back all benefits, including government vehicles, from the officers who were fired and submit a report after implementation.—APP
