KARACHI, Jan 29: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has expressed the hope that with the support of the MQM the city government will be able to lead the city to prosperity.

He said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Shah Waliullah Road on Wednesday. The project has cost Rs40m.

The Nazim said that during the past 15 months the city government had enjoyed full patronage of the provincial government, which helped complete development projects before the scheduled time.

“Now we expect that development projects will be expedited further with the Muttahida in the provincial government... Many departments have not been merged with the city government as yet, like the Katcha Abadis Authority. We hope that Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad and provincial ministers, particularly Minister for Local Government Muhammad Hussain, will pay attention to that,” said the Nazim.

He went on to say: “The MQM loves Karachi and the city government has proved that it does the same. The governor is Ishratul Ibad and the Nazim is Naimatullah Khan, and it will be a disaster if they fail to solve the lingering problems of the city. We will serve the masses setting aside political affiliations.”

He said that the city government’s development works were exemplary, and if the pace of development projects remained the same the city would undergo a remarkable transformation.

The Nazim further said that the construction of roads linking different towns would start within one month and would cost Rs230 million.

Javed Sultan Japanwala and Nazim Gulberg Town, Farooq Naimatullah, also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
