LAHORE, Jan 28: Five goals each, by Hussain Iftikhar and Azhar Ali and four by Jamal Iftikhar helped Free Lancers to thrash Nurpur 15-3 in the Brig R G Hyder Memorial Polo Cup on Tuesday.

Lancers surged ahead 3-2 in the first chukker with two goals by Jamal and one from Azhar, to overcome the loser’s 2-goal handicap lead.

Nurpur scored their only goal through Omer Shehbaz in the second chukker.

From there onwards, Lancers, took complete command of the game in what turned out to be a one sided affair, as the winners went on a rampage to score 11 goals till the end.

Azhar and Hussain struck two goals each in the second chukker to make it 7-3.

Hussain completed his hat trick at the start of the third chukker.

 Minutes later, Azhar netted his fourth goal. In the dying minutes Hussain scored his fourth and Jamal his third to further extend the lead 11-3.

Lancers finished the fourth chukker, by scoring four more goals when Azhar and Hussain slammed in their fifth goals, added by Jamal’s fourth and a solitary goal by Aslam to complete the tally.

Two goals by Samee Ibrahim and two goals on handicap helped Karachi Club beat President Body Guard (PBG) 5-3.

In a well contested match, Taimur Malik drew first blood for PBG in first chukker. Second chukker was goalless. Raja Sattar who scored two goals for PBG struck his first in the third chukker to restore the parity 2-2.

KPC regained the lead 3-2 through Ashfaq who scored a field goal before the chukker ended.

Samee further increased the lead 5-2 by scoring back to back goals in the fourth chukker. Raja Sattar banged home his second but only to reduce the margin 5-3.
