The raid was conducted by the circle officer, Aijaz Abbasi, along with the magistrate, Asim Lodhi, at the office of the XEN feeder division of the irrigation department in Barrage Colony. All records were seized.

The raid followed reports about disappearance of excavators worth Rs6 million used in the desilting of canals.

He has been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

FUNDS: The district Naib Nazim, Nawab Rashid Ali Khan, on Monday asked the district coordination officer to inform the district council members about the yardstick for distribution of funds among rural and urban Nazims.

He said that action would be recommended against those officials who failed to remain neutral in their conduct.

Addressing the district council members in the session, he said that district government officials must remember that they have to inform the union council Nazim concerned before performing their duty in the area or attending any official function.

He said that if anyone was found to be bypassing the union council Nazim concerned, strict action would be recommended against him to the provincial government.

He said that the district Nazim should also make queries from such officials as to why they became partisan in their duty.

He said that the district Nazim, being a custodian, would protect the interests of members and see that the funds were distributed on parity basis.

He maintained that the funds should also be given to the reserved seats members.

The convener took serious notice of the use of unparliamentary language by the EDO, Health, in response to a member’s query.

He said that the EDOs must go through the Sindh Local Government Ordinance before corresponding with the district council.
