ISLAMABAD, Jan 27: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed 13 more politicians who were defeated in the October elections to contest Senate polls.
The Supreme Court, which initially allowed 12 petitioners, granted provisional permission to 13 more politicians to contest Senate elections, bringing the number of politicians allowed to contest Senate polls to 25.
Those allowed to contest Senate polls on Monday were Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Syed Amjad Hussain Shah, Mohammad Ayub Khan, Saifullah Khan Paracha, Baloch Khan Mengal, Rashid Ahmad, Shaukatullah Khan, Mohammad Saleh Shah, Meraj Begum, Humayun Khan, Arbab Mohammad Hussain Kasi, Nawab Ayaz Jogezai and Mehr Ahsanullah.
The bench comprised Acting Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Sardar Mohammad Khan.
