KARACHI, Jan 27: A retired officer of the Pakistan Navy and his housemaid were found murdered at Sidco Centre in Saddar on Monday.
The police said Captain Ausaf (retired), aged 82, who headed the Iqbal Educational Trust, and his domestic servant, Shahida, aged 45, were found murdered in Captain Ausaf’s second floor apartment-cum-office on Monday afternoon.
They were strangled some time late Sunday night.
The police said on Monday morning when Captain Ausaf’s driver, Aijaz, came to work and knocked at the door of the apartment, there was no reply. He informed Captain Ausaf’s sister who sent her son Muzaffar Iqbal to her brother’s place.
Besides, Captain Ausaf’s cook, Nadir, and a computer operator also came in the morning, the police said.
Captain Ausaf’s nephew also unsuccessfully tried to open the door, which was locked from outside. Finally, the door was opened around 3pm and Captain Ausaf and his housemaid were found dead.
The police said Captain Ausaf’s body was found in the kitchen and that of his maidservant in her room. Both the bodies were trussed up. Both persons were strangled.
The DSP Preedy said the killer/killers rummaged around the apartment as the cabinet was lying upside down. Besides, files and Defence Saving Certificates worth Rs20
million issued in the name of the dead man were also lying scattered.
A personal computer was also missing.
Captain Ausaf had returned to Pakistan two years ago from London, leaving behind his wife there. After he returned to Pakistan he had set up an educational trust. He bought the apartment at Sidco Centre a few months ago.
The police said the suspects were possibly looking for particular documents as they turned the house upside down.
According to initial investigations, no valuable was found missing from the house, the police said.
The bodies were sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Three armed men barged into a house in Mominabad some time early Monday morning, held the family hostage at gunpoint and got away with cash and valuables.
In the police limits of Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan, armed men barged into Zubair Ali’s house and looted cash, jewellry and a cell phone.
In Buffer Zone, bandits robbed Akbar Ali of cash, jewellery and a passport at gunpoint.
Bandits entered Abdul Khaliq’s house in Baghdadi and got away with cash and jewellery.
Armed men barged into Ghulam Nabi’s house and looted cash, jewellery and a pistol.
In Quaidabad, bandits robbed Inayat of cash, a gold chain and a wrist-watch at gunpoint.
