KARACHI, Jan 26: Political leaders at a peace walk here on Sunday pledged to help develop a culture of tolerance in the city.
The walk was organized by Pasban.
The leaders were, among others, former PPP senator Taj Haider, Allama Hasan Turabi of the MMA, Hafiz Taqi, the President of the MMA Karachi, Tariq Khan from the PML (N), MNA Mohammed Husain Mehenti, Syed Salahuddin of the Shabab-i-Milli, Usman Muazzam and Tariq Jameel.
Besides, people from different walks of life reaffirmed their commitment to the maintenance of peace and development in Karachi.
A press release issued by Pasban — Voice Against Injustice said the participants of the walk sought tolerance on the part of every citizen of Karachi.
The participants, including leaders of public opinion, were of the view that the peace walk was a positive initiative aimed at removing misunderstanding among the people of Karachi and at bringing about a culture of tolerance.
The leaders said differences should be resolved through talks, not on the street.
The walk began at the Mazar-i-Quaid and concluded at Capri Cinema. — PPI
